About Us

Oregon Copper Bowl Company offers the finest quality copper, brass, nickel, stainless steel and specialty-plated sinks, basins and custom work for kitchens and bath. Our studio also crafts fountains, fonts and architectural bowls. Every piece is made by hand, right here in America.

Our standards are exacting, and we know a piece is ready for release if it is a work of the finest craftsmanship while it meets our exacting specifications for uniformity and quality. We know that hand-crafting is no excuse for work that lacks uniformity or falls short of the highest standard of quality.

History

Oregon Copper Bowl Company got its start over a decade ago when founder and president Lance Hull designed a copper bowl and bamboo fountain for his garden.

His requirements for the copper bowl were that it had to be heavy-weight and of a quality that would last for generations. He never did find a ready-made bowl and instead, had one made to order. When he sold his California home to return to Oregon, the sale of the house was contingent on the fountain: it had to stay with the home. He had another made for his Oregon home, and the design and the fine craftsmanship of a piece that was rich in character spurred requests from friends. Soon, he had fountains in fine galleries in the Northwest and California.

In 1998 a friend suggested that Lance consider making copper sinks, and in 1998 the first Oregon Copper Bowl sink was showcased in Eugene, Oregon. Today, Lance’s studio offers more than a thousand configurations and that doesn’t include the endless custom options.

Team

By the very nature of its mission, Oregon Copper Bowl Company is built around a small team of artisans and service experts. Every piece we create is crafted by many hands. Teamwork is key, and standards are high. Our core studio staff includes:

Lance Hull – Studio founder Lance Hull plays a central role in the design, crafting and distribution of the company’s work. If you call the company, he’s likely to answer the phone, and if you stop by, chances are best that you’ll find him in the studio. Lance is also the final point of inspection, and every piece that leaves the studio is subject to his scrutiny.

Kathy Baule – Kathy’s official title is Administrative Manager, but her work doesn’t stop there. She provides much of the unsurpassed customer service our dealers expect from us, and can answer virtually any question about our designs and process. From ensuring that every order is fulfilled to specification to providing custom quotes, Kathy keeps things running smoothly.

Josh Wishart – Together with Bill, Josh leads the studio in its work. From creating the hammered textures, to hand-finishing and developing our famous patinas, Josh is responsible for creating the hand-crafted pieces that our customers order. Josh has a fine arts degree and outside of work, specializes in ceramics.

Bill Holderfield – Together with Josh, Bill leads the studio in its work. From creating the hammered textures, to hand-finishing and developing our famous patinas, Bill is responsible for creating the hand-crafted pieces that our customers order. Bill has a fine arts degree and outside of work, enjoys glass and photography.
